Seven or eight years ago, I had a plumbing catastrophe in my home: water started spouting forcefully out of the shower drain,… read moretoilets and sinks were overflowing, and talk about STANKY!! I called a larger, well known company who sent a crew over and they scoped the line that went to those PVC pipes that stick out of the ground next to your house and they said they couldn't access them for some reason so they had a guy who spent a whole day digging and removing pebbly earth from around all the pipes, yet he didn't really make much progress and came back for a second day of digging earth around those inert pipes.
Meanwhile, some other henchmen lead by an overweight lead guy who diagnosed that we had to cut a deep hole 2' x 3' in the concrete floor of my garage, right smack in the middle, halfway in. He said that section of the underground sewer pipe that ran under the garage, was hopelessly blocked and that section needed to be cut out and they'd have to remove that section, wiggle some new pipe down int ok this not -so-shallow hole and weld it into place. A crew of six was required for three to four days of what began to me to be carrying the whiff of bull shit. Halfway through the first day, with the hole in the garage floor half-jackhammered out. Job estimate was somewhere about $7,000 to $8,000...they told me the pipe was cracked.
SOMETHING. DIDN'T. FEEL. RIGHT.
SO, here's the part I've been building up to...where RAMON arrives after that other crew had decamped for their underground lair, and oozing relaxed confidence and totally competency - you could tell he knew his stuff just by the way he went about checking out this partially messed up scene, he looked around, got his special plumber's fancy precision camera scope, then rose from the ground, dusting himself off while wordlessly shaking his head, “How much did they tell you this job would be?” And I told him. He replied, “Boss, let me tell you. You don’t need a new pipe. That pipe is just blocked and I can clean it out for you and it’ll cost $450”.
Needless to say I called the big outfit the next day, told them I got a second opinion, I wasn’t going to use them or pay them and they sent over a skinny guy the next day to fill in the pebbly holes around the pipes and then Ramon did a beautiful job with a bag of cement and made my garage floor look almost like it had never been messed with.
Since then, I’ve needed plumbing services a few times, today he did a maintenance flushing of my hot water heater. I always call 360 and ask for Ramon. He is an honest man and will not upsell you or overcharge you, just the necessary job at a fair price!
